Removing oxidation from brass components
Ways to remove oxidation from your brass components:
Lemon & Baking Soda Method
- Combine the juice of half a lemon and a teaspoon of baking soda and stir until it becomes a paste
- Apply paste with a soft cloth to brass components
- If heavily tarnished, let the piece sit with the paste on it for 30 minutes
- Rinse with warm water and pat dry
- Repeat if necessary.
Tomato Sauce Method
- Squeeze some tomato sauce (ketchup) into a dish.
- Carefully cover the brass area or only the required areas with a decent amount of tomato sauce.
- Let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
- Use clean water or a soft damp towel to gently remove the tomato sauce from the brass component.
