Collection: Smudge Cleansing
Smudging is an ancient tradition of burning sacred herbs and wood, which is used in rituals and ceremonies to ward off negative energies.
Avoiding the practice around those with respiratory issues.
How to smudge: Open windows and doors to allow trapped negative energies to exit the space. The smoke and smell may be suffocating, so giving it an exit path and allowing fresh air in will be of help.
- Firstly focus on an intention to clear negative energy from your space and your mind.
- Light a flame to one end of the smudge stick, and blow out the fire once it produces smoke.
- Place a fire-proof dish underneath the smudge stick to catch any burning pieces that may fall. (Be cautious and aware of your surroundings as the embers of the smudge stick can fall and cause damage.)
- Whilst focusing on cleansing, walk around the space, person or object, fanning the smoke over its wholeness with a feather or even your hand.
- When cleansing your home start from one end of the house, making your way through the rooms and ending the ritual at the main entry. Don't forget to start with the corners of each room as a lot of negative energies linger there, then make your way to the centre of the room going over the furniture, windowsills and lastly the door frame.
- Trusting your intuition, when you feel you have done enough smudging move onto the next place, person or item.
- Once you are done with smudging, you can allow it to burn out in a fire-proof dish or press the burnt end into the fire-proof dish to turn it out.
