Petrified Wood is the result of a process called permineralisation, where the original wood tissue is replaced by mineral matter, most often silica (quartz). The process retains the original structure of the wood, complete with tree rings and bark texture. The colour ranges widely, including browns, tans, reds, and blacks, due to the presence of various minerals like iron oxides and manganese. It has a durable structure and a waxy to vitreous lustre, making it an excellent material for ornamental objects, carvings, and earthy jewellery.

Petrified Wood is known as the "Stone of Grounding and Ancient Wisdom." It carries a powerful, deep connection to the Earth and its timeline, providing a strong sense of stability, patience, and ancient wisdom. It encourages the user to slow down, live in the present moment, and practise spiritual and emotional patience. It is highly grounding, helping to calm scattered thoughts, overcome feelings of overwhelm, and promote a sense of security and belonging. It is excellent for accessing past-life memories and ancestral wisdom.
