Rhodonite is a manganese inosilicate mineral. It is easily recognised by its distinctive colour palette, which ranges from pale pink to deep rose-red, interspersed with dendritic black manganese oxide inclusions (veins or patches). The name comes from the Greek word rhodos, meaning rosy. It is usually opaque and massive, possessing a vitreous lustre. Due to its durability and unique patterns, it is a very popular choice for beads, carvings, and polished jewellery.
