Ruby is a variety of the mineral Corundum, second only to Diamond in hardness. Its intense red colour is caused by the presence of chromium. It ranges from pinkish-red to a deep, pigeon-blood red, often exhibiting a beautiful, silky sheen or a stunning fluorescence. It possesses a high vitreous lustre. Due to its exceptional durability, rarity, and magnificent colour, it is one of the four precious gemstones and is highly valued in all forms of high-end jewellery.

Ruby is known as the "Stone of Passion, Vitality, and Protection." It is a powerful life-force stone that stimulates the Root and Heart Chakras, encouraging a passionate engagement with life, boosting vitality, and increasing motivation. It is highly protective, shielding the wearer from psychic attack, emotional vampires, and negative energy. Ruby encourages a positive, courageous state of mind, helping the user to overcome exhaustion and lethargy, and fostering a zest for life, love, and achieving one's true potential.

Hardness: 9 on the Mohs scale (making it one of the most durable gemstones for daily wear).

Chakra: Primarily the Root Chakra (for vitality, grounding, and survival) and the Heart Chakra (for passionate love).
