Pink Aventurine is a variety of macrocrystalline quartz that belongs to the Aventurine family, which is characterised by a shimmering effect called aventurescence. This delicate sparkle is caused by microscopic inclusions of flaky minerals, usually Lepidolite or Hematite (which gives it its soft pink to reddish-pink colour). Without these inclusions, it would simply be chalcedony.
