Chalcedony is a cryptocrystalline form of silica, composed of very fine intergrowths of quartz and moganite. It is the host material for many gemstone varieties, including agate, onyx, jasper, and carnelian. In its purest form, it typically appears as a pale, translucent, waxy material, often found in colours like white, grey, or lavender-blue. It is known for its smooth, polished feel and its waxy lustre, making it a popular choice for carving and sculptural jewellery.

Chalcedony is known as the "Stone of Nurturing and Brotherhood." It is a highly nurturing stone that promotes goodwill, stability, and emotional honesty. It absorbs negative energy, helping to transmute feelings of hostility and replacing them with a sense of peace and benevolence. It encourages reflection and meditation, fostering a deep connection to others and enhancing group stability and unity. Its energy is very gentle and supportive.

Hardness: 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale (making it durable for daily wear).

Chakra: Varies by colour, but the blue/grey form is typically associated with the Throat Chakra (for communication).

Zodiac Sign: Cancer, Sagittarius, and Gemini.

Benefits: Promotes goodwill and brotherhood, absorbs and dissipates negative energy, encourages harmonious relationships, fosters emotional honesty and openness, and enhances mental stability and inner peace.
