Silver Sheen Obsidian is a variety of natural volcanic glass, formed when lava cools rapidly. Its body colour is typically opaque black or deep brown, but thin layers of minute gas bubbles or mineral inclusions create a stunning, shimmering, silvery-grey sheen or lustre when polished and viewed in bright light. This effect is often called schiller.
