About This Collection

Angelite is a form of Anhydrite, a calcium sulphate mineral that forms when Celestite is compressed over millions of years, losing its water content in the process. Its soft, powder-blue colour is characteristic of the mineral and is caused by the absence of water within its structure. It is relatively soft and sensitive to moisture, which can cause it to revert partially back to Gypsum if exposed to water for prolonged periods. Most of the finest Angelite comes from Peru, where it was first discovered in 1987.
