Dalmatian Jasper, also known as Dalmatian Stone, is an igneous rock found almost exclusively in the state of Chihuahua in northern Mexico. Despite its common name, it is not technically a true Jasper but rather a feldspar and quartz-based igneous rock with distinctive black or brown spots caused by inclusions of Black Tourmaline and iron oxide minerals. Its cream to beige base peppered with dark spots gives it an unmistakable resemblance to the coat of a Dalmatian dog, from which it takes its name. The Black Tourmaline inclusions within the stone are believed to add a protective and grounding dimension to its overall energy.
