Blue Lace Agate is a banded variety of Chalcedony, a microcrystalline form of Quartz, distinguished by its delicate pale blue and white layered banding. It forms within cavities of volcanic rock through the slow deposition of silica-rich fluids over millions of years, with each fine band representing a distinct stage of mineral deposition. Its soft, lacy patterning is created by subtle variations in mineral content and temperature during formation. The finest specimens have historically come from Namibia, though South Africa has also been a significant source.
