Shattuckite is a rare copper silicate hydroxide mineral found in the oxidised zones of copper ore deposits, most famously in the Shattuck Mine in Bisbee, Arizona, USA, from which it takes its name. It is distinguished by its striking deep blue to turquoise colouration — ranging from vivid sky blue and royal blue to rich teal — caused by its high copper content, and it frequently occurs in association with other copper-bearing minerals including Malachite, Chrysocolla, Azurite, and Plancheite, creating breathtakingly beautiful specimens of swirling blue, green, and teal. It is a relatively soft and rare mineral, and fine quality specimens of deep, saturated blue Shattuckite are considered highly collectible and of significant value in the mineral world. Namibia, particularly the Kaokoveld region, has emerged as one of the most important contemporary sources of fine Shattuckite material, producing specimens of exceptional colour and quality.
