Silver Sheen Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass — a variety of Obsidian — distinguished by its extraordinary silver to grey metallic sheen that billows and shifts across its deep black surface as light moves across it, creating a mesmerising, mirror-like optical effect of remarkable depth and beauty. Mexico is the world's most celebrated and significant source of fine Silver Sheen Obsidian, producing specimens of exceptional sheen intensity and clarity. It is closely related to Gold Sheen Obsidian, which shares the same formation process but displays a warm golden to bronze sheen caused by slightly different inclusion compositions.
